The Gitxsan Artist
Nathan is of the Gitxsan tribe of Northern BC Canada. Since we have been married, he has decided to get back to the traditions of his people. He has worked on his art and is now in galleries not only on the West coast... but all over the world! He has art in France and Norway, and requests as far as Australia. It has been an exciting adventure watching him make his mark in this world through his art. His art is also on the cover of a book with his permission - on yachts and boats across the country. Needless to say, I am very proud of him and his talents. My contribution comes in the way of working with photoshop and my camera... designing such photos as the one above. I figure if he is going to treat me with a nice Nikon D80, the least I can do it take TONS of picture. Hopefully we can get some cool ones we can use for him and his site.
I also like to Journal with my photograpy. This helps other get to know Nathan as an artist and as a father to some beautiful children!!! Besides... I have to show the beautiful place we are blessed to live. Washington!
Being here has been a great cultural experience for our family as well! Nathan has made sure that we get to live among his people and the ways of his mothers side of the family. We have met some wonderful individuals! Our children have danced with their tribal affiliates and have really come to learn the art that Nathan does so well with. This was a totem pole raising in October that we attended. We are looking forward to the day Nathan completes a Totem or some new carvings!
The Wild life here is amazing! This was a baby seal that I took pictures of when we visited a beach near our home. We have seen jelly fish, seals, star fish, and live sand dollars! It has been so fun. Oh, and not to mention crabs and clams... that shoot water through the sand!!! The kids love it!
Life is the best as long as we are together. I am grateful to my husband and all he does for our family. We live in a beautiful land among his people. God has blessed us ~ Truly. I Thank HIM for my family, home, and HUSBAND.

I am so jealous! It looks so beautiful up there! We love the ocean and take about two trips a year to the coast (we don't care which:) I also love your photography. I have been doing a lot of photography to but I only have the D-50. It is a sweet camera though:)
Well, if you happen to be here on the West coast feel free to come by! We can show you some pretty neat beaches and places.
I love my camera! You have to hear how I got it though - LOL That is a whole other story in itself. Thanks a million... We really have fun with our cameras :)
I love what you are doing with your pictures. I have photo shop and don't have a CLUE how to use it.
It is really pretty up there where you live.
Thanks for sharing all of your stories. I feel like I am not missing out on so much.
Bonnie... I had the hardest time starting the program because I was so intimidated by it. So I would learn 1 thing at a time. It is so worth it!!! If you want to learn it just let me know :)
Your pictures are darling. I love reading about your family. That is great that Nathan is into his tribal art and doing so well at it. You have a beautiful family.
